The Victory Photocon Karate Organization of India (VSKAI) was originally founded in 2001 under the name Victory Budokan Karate Club (VBKC). The organization was the brainchild of several passionate martial arts enthusiasts, notably Karate Mallikarjun Gowd, along with M. Satyanarayana, K. Shiva Kumar, Lakmi Sri Ramulu, M. Sanjay, R. Ashok, U. Srinivas, and M. Venkatesh. United by a shared vision of promoting traditional karate and instilling discipline and strength in youth, these founding members laid the foundation for what would become a respected and rapidly growing karate organization in India.
From its inception, the organization made remarkable strides. Despite starting with just ten committed members, the group quickly gained momentum. The members trained rigorously and participated in various tournaments, with many achieving significant victories early on. A landmark achievement came when R. Ashok won the Grand Championship in the Black Belt Division, a victory that solidified the organization’s credibility on the competitive stage. This win marked the beginning of a series of triumphs that would fuel the growth of the club and inspire countless young karatekas.
The organization’s name, “Victory,” symbolized not just success in competition but also the triumph of discipline, dedication, and unity. As VBKC grew in strength and reputation, it proudly produced over 40 black belts, a major milestone that reflected the club’s commitment to excellence in martial arts. This exponential growth and high caliber of students prompted the transition from a local club to a more structured and recognized body — eventually leading to its renaming as the Victory Photocon Karate Organization of India (VSKAI).
One of the early major events hosted by the organization was the State Championship held in Mallapur in 2002. Organized under the banner of VBKC, this tournament drew attention not only for its scale and participation but also for the high-profile presence of various dignitaries. The event was graced by Tulla Devender Gowda, who was the Finance Minister at the time, along with other key political figures such as Underground Ministers Chandrasekhara Rao, MP Nandi Ellayya Garu, Irrigation Minister Surender Reddy, several MLAs, Municipal Chairmen, Councilors, and leaders from various political parties.
The tournament concluded on a triumphant note, showcasing not only the athletic prowess of the participants but also the organizational capabilities of VSKAI. The event’s success elevated the profile of the organization across the region and helped secure its place as a serious force in the Indian martial arts community. Through dedication, community support, and a clear mission, VSKAI continues to uphold its founding principles while expanding its reach and impact on the youth of India through karate.
